Parameters Optimization for Electropolishing Titanium by Using Taguchi-Based Pareto ANOVA

Material removal rate in electropolishing is often overlooked because this process generally addressed for surface finish; however, it paramount on metallic sheet machining possessed with intricate geometry. Electropolishing removes material from the of a workpiece based anodic dissolution process. The depends current density, electrolyte, strength magnetic field, polishing time and temperature. In study, three factors applied voltage, electrolyte composition field were evaluated using Taguchi approach to improve pure titanium (99.5%) workpiece. experiments undertaken as per L9 (33) orthogonal array, further analyzed Pareto ANOVA determine most significant parameter. It was found that optimum parametric combination maximize were, voltage 15 V, ethanol concentration 20 vol.% 0.51 T. experimental results show responses can be improved through approach.
